The eighth season of Hawaii Five-0 will feature a Samoan actor from New Zealand, Beulah Koale.
Koale had a supporting role in Tusi Tamasese’s film, “One Thousand Ropes” and his debut in Hollywood comes out in October.
In the movie, “Thank you for your service sir, he plays a Samoan soldier who saved several comrades but watched his best friend die when an Improvised Explosive Device .went off.
He has also starred in the New Zealand television series Shortland Street, and Harry and Fresh.
Hawaii Five-0 producers told Variety that Koale would play Junior Reigns, a former navy SEAL who, after returning from service, asks to join Hawaii Five-0.
Koale would star alongside another two new faces, North American actors Meaghan Rath and Ian Anthony Dale.
The new casting came after Hawaii Five-0 stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park quit amid reports they had been unable to secure contracts that would give them equal pay with their white co-stars
