
The American Samoa Economic Development Authority is getting three new Board members to replace appointees who up to now have been sitting on both the Board of ASEDA and the Territorial bank of American Samoa Board.
ASEDA is the group which is responsible for the sale of ASG bonds which netted $78 million to finance major projects such as the government bank, and the Manu’atele boat,
Two of the new appointees are department directors and one is a deputy director.
The new members are Dr. Oreta Critchon, Chief Procurement Officer, Faleosina Voigt, Director of Public Works and Uili Leauanae, Deputy Director of Commerce.
The governor said in a memo dated June 28, while legislative confirmation is required, these appointees are to begin participating in the activities of ASEDA to ensure that the required quorums are met to conduct its business.
He added that if these appointees are not confirmed, their membership on ASEDA will automatically terminate.’
Other Members of the ASEDA Board are Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a, ASPA Executive Director Utu Abe Malae, Budget Director Catherine Saelua, Attorney General Talauega Eleasalo Alo, Port Director Taimalelagi Dr. Claire Poumele, Governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, Governor’s Legal Counsel Steve Watson, Senator Galeai Tuufuli and former Representative Maugaoalii Sipa Anoai.
Members of the Board of the Territorial Bank of American Samoa are: ASPA Executive Director Utu Abe Malae, businessman and Eastern District Governor Alo Dr. Paul Stevenson, Director of Commerce Keniseli Lafaele, Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga, businessman Papalii Laulii Alofa, and Governor’s Chief Counsel Steve Watson.
