Inaugural College Foundation Tourney a Success

About $15,000 was raised at the American Samoa Community College Research Foundation golf tournament, Saturday.

Foundation Director Alofia Afalava said it was a successful event with 57 players turning out to help the American Samoa Community College raise money for scholarships, educational programs and staff and faculty development.

The foundation was established in 1988 as the fundraising arm of ASCC.

ASCC President Dr. Rosevonne Pato said the “research” component of ASCRF involves research into new programs ASCC would like to offer ….these include non traditional courses such as Samoan Pacific studies and others.

This was the Foundation’s first fundraiser in many years.Dr. Pato was thankful for the generous response to their inaugural golf tournament.

Foundation director Mrs Alofia Afalava said That In addition to companies and organizations who sponsored teams and special prizes, other donors were V103, SOPAC, Hawaiian Air, and Polynesian Air.

Mrs Afalava says the Foundation’s next event would be an ASCC Alumni Black Tie Ball in November.
