One of the main items on the governor’s agenda at last week’s cabinet meeting was the preparation of the ASG Report for the Department of Interior.

Governor Lolo is hoping that by the end of this fiscal year on September 30th, each department will have their reports, which discuss their operations and future outlook, ready.

This same report will go to the Fono.

Lolo told directors their plans should reflect a realistic overview of each department’s services for the people of American Samoa.

He also said that they can report on whether or not their department is still needed.

Lolo said these reports will also help the Fono leaders allocate resources.

The governor also pointed out that the Revenue Task Force, chaired by Attorney General Talauega Eleasalo Ale. will meet when they return from an off-island meeting.

He advised the task force to have all their bills reviewed and be presented before the cabinet so they will be aware of measures that will be submitted for ongoing and future development.

Governor Lolo indicated that expanding the government’s revenue base is necessary as people’s needs are greater than ever.

He said that improvements in public services such as education and infrastructure cannot be made if they cannot convince the Fono to approve appropriations to fund these developments.

The governor revealed that ASG has unpaid debts to McConnel Dowell company and another company he did not name for road construction .
