ASTCA Will Begin Deactivating Inactive Mobile Numbers

Attention inactive ASTCA cell phone customers.

Interim Chief Executive Officer of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, Rep. Puleleiite Li’amatua Tufele Jr. announced at today’s cabinet meeting that by next week, they will start deactivating mobile phones of customers who have not dialed their phones for some time.

Puleleiite explained that about 8,000 cell phone customers have not made calls on their phones, but have just been receiving calls on them.

After the cabinet meeting, the interim CEO told KHJ News there are about 11,000 active cell phone subscribers contributing to ASTCA’s revenues.

Puleleiite advised that those whose phones will be disconnected, notify ASTCA if they want to remain customers.

He did not disclose if some of the inactive mobile numbers include those of Directors and other government officials.
