Few Postponements Later, Academy Graduation Is on Friday

The Department of Public Safety will officially commission this Friday morning just over 30 new police officers from the 025 Police Academy.

The ceremony will be held at the Lee Auditorium and the graduation service will be led by former Chief of Police , and now pastor of the Fagatogo Congregational Church of Jesus in Samoa Rev. Fa’amao Asalele

The ceremony will also commission 8 others from the 024 academy who did not have an official commissioning ceremony.

Six Territorial Correctional Facility officers who participated in the Correctional Academy number 2 will also be among those commissioned.

Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga is on the program to deliver special remarks and the audience will also hear from Public Safety Commissioner Le’i Sonny Thompson.

Government officials who will have a role in the commissioning ceremony include Attorney General Talauega E Ale, Secretary of Samoan Affiars, Mauga Tasi Asuega and Director of Homeland Security Samana Semo Ve’ave’a.

The 32 participants of this year’s academy include seven employees from departments with law enforcement functions such as the Department of Homeland Security, Customs, Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources and the court.

Associate Judge Sala Mamea Jr. will administer the officers’ oath.
