The American Samoa Power Authority expects to make a final payment to the contractor for the new power plant at Satala Louis Berger late this month.
Executive Director Utu Abe Malae said the payment will be made when the final items on the performance measures in the contract between ASPA and the contractor are ticked off the checklist .
A remaining metric which ASPA was discussing with Louis Berger up to the day before the opening of the plant had to do with minimum fuel consumption efficiency.
The issue was mentioned by Utu in his remarks at the STEM Summit a week ago.

Utu said in response to follow up questions by KHJ News that ASPA and the contractor have come to a satisfactory agreement with the fuel consumption efficiency metric.
Therefore the final payment will be made late this month when the final items on the checklist are completed and when the performance of the engines is validated.
He added, “We do not see any problems.”
