Memorial Services Planned to Honor the Fallen

The sacrifices of men and women in uniform will be remembered and honored at government services on Monday.

The first wreatrh laying takes place at the Veterans Monument in Tafuna at 6am.

Then around 6:45 is a memorial service at the Satala cemetery.

Immediately following that wreath laying, government leaders, VA officials, and the selected pastor and choir will board the Manuatele for a memorial service at sea.

The program should be over before 8am after which guests will sit down to breakfast at the inter island dock.

In the territory, Memorial Day has become a day to remember not just the fallen soldiers but all those who have passed on.

It’s a day when families paint and spruce up graves and decorate them with flowers.

It’s a federal and ASG holiday and most businesses will be closed.
