Specialists from the Shriners Hospital in Honolulu began seeing today children, from babies to 18 years, with orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Jonathan Pellett who’s here with another doctor and a nurse, will be here until Friday and they want to see as many young patients as possible.
The team has seen 30 children today, the first day of their mission.
There are no appointments required.
One can just walk in and see the team from Shriners at the LBJ’s Orthopedic Clinic opposite the EMS station.
Dr. Pellet says they are also following up on the cases of children whom they have seen and treated in the previous years.
Last year the Shriners took to Honolulu for treatment about 30 children who needed immediate attention on their orthopedic conditions.
The Shriners have been offering their services for the children of American Samoa since the 1970’s.
Dr. Pellet acknowledged the support of the people of American Samoa and the local chapter of the Shriners.
