Some are asking why the flags are flying at half staff.
The governor yesterday ordered that flags be lowered today to pay respect to the memory of the late Senator John Glenn.
Senator Glenn was a highly decorated Marine corps aviator in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
In 1959, he was selected a member of the Mercury Seven, military test pilots who became America’s first astronauts.
In 1962, Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth.
Later, Senator Glenn became senator for the state of Ohio for 24 years, retiring in 1999.
Senator Glenn passed away in December of last year, but he was only laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery today.
