Other than the introduction of resolutions to confirm cabinet nominees, today’s Senate session included congratulatory remarks for Senate President Gaoteote Palaie who tied the knot recently in Honolulu.
Senator Tuaolo Fruean caught the Senate leader by surprise when he announced that a significant event such as marriage cannot go unnoticed and without well wishes.
He announced to the chamber that the Senate President has united in matrimony with his good lady.
Tuaolo then asked Mrs. Palaie, formely Ms. Betty Fritz who was sitting in the Senate gallery to stand up so all the senators could see her.
Obliging, Mrs. Palaie, an employee of the Senate obliged stood up and waved.
It didn’t end there. Senator Tuiagamoa Tavai said that some of the senators who sit right below the gallery, were not able to see the Senate President’s wife.
He asked that Mrs Palaie come into the chamber after the session so they can formally meet and greet her.
He got his wish. After the session, all of the senators were able to greet Mrs Palaie in the Senate chamber.
