An official from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration assigned to the electrocution tragedy that claimed three lives is still on island and has yet to wrap up the investigation.

Tama Satele, who is with the OSHA Region 9 out of San Francisco is the only investigator from the federal agency working on the Manu’a case.

Satele referred all inquiries to their Public Affairs office.

Meanwhile the owner of Manu’a Store, Genhall Manu’a Chen says they are still finalizing assistance for the families of the three men who died from electrocution injuries, Iosefa Elia, Saito Paulo and Toese Sagapolutele Ume.

Store employees have said that the company is giving $50,000 to each of the families to cover funeral arrangements, and was also providing a trust fund for the education of their children.

When asked for verification, Chen said that they are still making negotiations and arrangement and nothing has been finalized yet.

The Manu’a Store at Tafuna closed after January 14 and according to Chen, all of the employees are now assigned to their Malaeimi and Pago Pago branches.

Yesterday in the House, Representative Faimealelei Anthony Allen expressed sympathy for this tragedy.

He then referred to a situation at Fagaitua High School where the internet has been down for three months.

He said there are wires protruding from walls because of work by a contractor.

He said before the system is turned back on, ASPA and Public Works should go out to the school and make sure it’s safe.

Regarding the internet outage, which has also been reported from other schools, Faimealelei, a former JROTC instructor said there are JROTC reports that must be sent to headquarters regularly but with the internet service down these reports cannot be sent.
