A 20 year-old man lands in jail the week of Christmas for a crime that happened back in September.
Rene Finau is charged with burglary, attempted sexual abuse first degree, trespassing, endangering the welfare of a child and third degree assault.
The government alleges that the defendant entered a home in Amouli and went into a bedroom where a 13 year-old girl was sleeping.
He climbed onto the bed and lied down next to the girl.
The girl felt the defendant running his hands up her legs, she woke up and told the defendant to leave or she would tell her older brother. The defendant then left the house.
The girl apparently didn’t tell her father about what happened until a month later and police investigations began.
Finau was arrested on Monday and detained at the Territorial Correction Facility.
He made his initial appearance in District Court today.
His bail is set at $12,000.
