It will probably be the end of January before the Department of Public Safety holds its next Police Academy.
Before then DPS in conjunction with the government hiring and firing agency, Department of Human Resources would have conducted an exam to pick recruits who will be candidates for the new police academy.
Commissioner of Public Safety Save Liuato Tuitele says he’s hoping that federal law enforcement agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Drug Enforcement Agency will be able to offer instruction in some of the Academy course work.
Initially the plan was to recruit those who have had military experience for a smaller class, but Save says they will open the opportunity up to whoever wants to try the police academy.
He says Human Resources has to advertise for applicants and schedule tests, after which suitable candidates will be picked for the academy.
