A complaint from a customer about the condition of a meat purchase led to an inspection of the Cost U Less Meat Section by environmental health inspectors from the Department of Health yesterday.

Papalii Marion Fitisemanu who heads the division said they wanted to make sure that the meats were in good condition, especially during the holidays when families will be barbequing and cooking a lot of meat.

He said they had the store clean out their cooler for one day meats and also the meat cutting room.

Papalii said the store was cooperative and everything is now in good order.

General Manager of Cost U Less, Brian Jungrass said when the inspectors arrived, they checked the cooler and it was 3 degrees higher than what it should be.

They called their refrigerator repair man who adjusted the cooler temperature and the store  continued selling meat.

Papalii asks the public to check on meat products before buying, and if they suspect contaminated meat, to contact Public Health.
