Busy Time for Pago Pago Post Office

Post Master Tao Suani and employees of the Pago Pago Post Office are processing tons of holiday mail this week and are hoping those expecting packages will come in early to pick up their holiday mail to make room for more incoming mail.

From Friday to last night , the Pago Pago Post Office has received about 70,000 pounds of mail.

Suani asks residents to please check their Post Office boxes for notices and pick up their package so they can make space on the floor for the next delivery.

The Post Office is opening at 7:30 AM for both lobby doors and the back door for release of packages.

This was the same schedule yesterday and the Post Office was also opened Sunday from 2 and half hours.

The last mail delivery will be on the Friday cargo flight.

Post Master Suani says she will confirm the flight schedule for Friday and if it remains on schedule the Post Office will open regular hours Saturday and also on Sunday, Christmas Day from 11 am to 2 pm  for pick up of packages at the back door only.

For outbound mail , the last mailing day for a package to reach Honolulu and the US mainland before Christmas m according to the post master is today.

That package would have to be posted as Priority Express on Hawaiian Air’s special Wednesday flight tomorrow.

But Suani says , there’s always a possibility of a delay as all of outbound mail must be screened and cleared by the US Customs and Border Control in Honolulu before any further processing by the postal plant in Honolulu.

Any PRIORITY package weighing more than 15oz cannot be moved by Hawaiian Air as it is a passenger air carrier.

All PRIORITY packages can only be lifted on the Friday cargo flight.

Cutoff for PRIORITY packages is Thursday at closing time, 3:30pm.
