The governor has urged directors to be alert and be prepared for changes for American Samoa as a result of the transition in leadership in Washington D.C.

Governor Lolo predicts that the next 6 months won’t be easy as changes made in the US Capitol will undoubtedly have an impact on American Samoa.

The governor said at Friday’s cabinet meeting the change in US leadership will have a domino effect on American Samoa and he hopes there will be positive changes that are beneficial for the territory.

The governor urged directors to be alert and efficient in obtaining reimbursements for federal grants.

Many  grant programs have ASG spending money up  front and then apply for reimbursements form the federal grantors.

The governor indicated that there will be delays, reimbursements that usually takes one or two months may likely not be reimbursed for 3 months.

The governor, a Democrat, foresees that the transition to a Republican administration will not be an easy ride for American Samoa.

He urged patience and being ready with solutions to deal with whatever changes are forthcoming.

The governor reminded his cabinet that cost containment measures are still in place and the days of cutting the banana bunch down first then seek permission are over.
