The Canadians have landed.

The Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Vancouver arrived yesterday morning to refuel and resupply.

Harbor Maritime Operation Manager, Michael Banem told KHJ News that the warship will be leaving Pago Pago Harbor at 10 am tomorrow for Pearl Harbor on its way back to Canada.

The frigate HMCS Vancouver came from New Zealand where it joined warships from five other nations to help New Zealand with recovery efforts following the devastation caused by the recent 7.5 earthquake that shook the country.

According to the Canadian National Post, the warships were to visit the city of Auckland for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Instead they bypassed the celebration and headed straight to the town of Kaikoua which was the worst affected area.

The other nations which sent warships to help New Zealand include the United States, Australia, Japan and Singapore.
