During Disaster Preparedness Month, the Department of Homeland Security trains and conduct awareness activities for natural and man made disasters.
And while most may think that man made disasters that are common in the mainland like shooting sprees would not be a reality here, Faletoa Ulufale, the outreach coordinator says first responders in the territory are being trained for such an event.
And their awareness activities for this month also covers response measures for such instances.
Ulufale says with the presence of unlicensed guns and mounting evidence of drugs on island, first responders received training last year on how to respond to shooting incidents.
