Lornalei Meredith Fanene Heads Civil Division in AGs Office

Attorney General Talauega Eleasalo Ale has announced the appointment of Assistant Attorney General Lornalei Meredith Fanene as the new Chief of the Civil Division.

The Civil Division of the Attorney General’s Office  handles all civil lawsuits involving the American Samoa Government and provides legal advice to various agencies and department of the government.

Lornalei graduated from BYU Provo with her BA degree in English before going on to BYU Law School and graduating with her Juris Doctor in 2012.

She is currently licensed to practice law in Utah and American Samoa.

She has worked in the Attorney General’s Office for 3 years.

Lornalei is also the president of American Samoa Bar Association for 2016-2017.

Lornalei is the daughter of Mataia Daniel and Gwenolyn Ho Ching Meredith of Nu’uuli, Nua & Se’etaga, and Faleapuna, Samoa.

She is married to Malaeimi Siufaga Fanana of Nu’uuli.

Lornalei replaces former Civil Chief Vincent Kruse, who recently relocated to Hawaii.
