A third time candidate in the Tuala-uta House election, Su’a Lucia Bartley says if she’s elected, she will introduce legislation to control Tuala-uta’s population.

She says a significant number of people residing in Tualauta don’t vote there but they are contributing to the poor state of roads with their huge vehicles.

A resident who attended a forum for Tuala uta candidates Saturday asked the candidates to explain how they planned to curb overcrowding in their district.

Su’a didn’t back down from naming lawmakers and directors who live in Tuala-uta but vote in other districts.

She named Director of Human Resources, Le’i Sonny Thompson who lives in Iliili and votes in Manu’a and Speaker of the House, Savali Talavou Ale also residing in Iliiili and voting in Alataua district.

Su’a said that every time she walks in her district she s come across a lot of people especially those from Manu’a who reside in Tuala-uta.

She suggests that lawmakers residing in Tuala-uta but don’t vote there should demonstrate their support with bills for the improvement of conditions in their district of residence.

The military retiree says it’s not fair that lawmakers are getting a piece of the pie from the district in which they reside and another from where they vote.

The only other Tuala-uta candidate participating in the Forum last Saturday, Samuel Ioka Meleisea, said that their  Representatives and Senators need to sit down and discuss how best to resolve the district’s burgeoning population.

Meleisea pointed out that Tuala-uta is the territory’s second town attracting business development and investment which benefit constituents.
