No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle believed to have killed a toddler at Petesa on October 1st.

In response to KHJ News questions about the police investigation into the incident, Commissioner of Public Safety Save Liuato Tuitele said this case is still active and open so he can’t divulge details at this time.

He said that no one has yet been cited for the death of the infant in Petesa.

Investigators are still conducting interviews to determine exactly how the boy died and the actual cause of death.

Initial information from the commissioner about the incident said that the child and an 11-year-old cousin were alone at home while his father and grandfather had gone to a meeting.

The child’s mother was to return home from work that morning.

Police interviews of a witness indicate that the child was playing by himself in front of the family’s home , when the grandfather’s sister drove up to the house.

The aunt told police that a few seconds after she parked her F150 truck, she saw the 11-year-old carrying the infant in his hands.

Save says the woman has emphatically denied seeing the infant when she drove up that morning.

The boy was buried last Saturday.

Meanwhile another child was hit by a vehicle during a fundraising/wave by a village committee of the Lolo and Lemanu camp last Saturday in Nu’uuli,

KHJ News observed that police vehicles passed by without warning wavers to move back.

The same situation was seen in Utulei for a wave of the Faoa Sanitoa village committee the same day.

Two young people were parading and posing in the center line of the road.

The day before there was loud music, wavers cheering loudly and people criss crossing the road from the marketplace to below Govt House, for a wave of the Lolo Lemanu camp.

Calls from members of the public questioned why the police did not apply the same rules they enforce for fundraisers for campaign events like waves.
