Walk Focuses Attention on Human Trafficking

walk-3

Since the human trafficking law was signed, no one has been charged with the crime in the territory.

Advocates for victims of human trafficking say there’s a need to educate the public about what human trafficking is and to speak out about it.

Tomorrow for the first time, American Samoa will be part of a Walk for Freedom which focuses attention  on human trafficking and speaking for the 27 million children, women and men believed to be victims of modern day slavery around the world.

The walk is sponsored by A21, a global anti-human trafficking organization dedicate to fighting slaver and abolishing injustice in the 21st century.

Emma Toilolo, one of the local organizers says the walk begins tomorrow at Fagaalu Park with registration at 6:30 am and those participating will symbolize victims who are unable to speak out for themselves.
