Soliai & Lutu-Sanchez Sworn in as WPFMC Members

Two American Samoa representatives on the Western Pacific Fishery Management Council were sworn in at the Council meeting in Honolulu today

They are Taotasi Archie Soliai and Christina Lutu Sanchez.

The two who are nominated by the governor and approved by the US Secretary of Commerce replace Taimalelagi Dr. Claire Poumele and Taulapapa Willie Sword who has served more than one term on the Board and is prohibited from serving two consecutive terms.

Soliai who is the community relations manager for StarKist Samoa and Lutu Sanchez, President of the Tautai Longline Fishing Association, have three year terms.

Director of Marine and Wildlife Resources, Dr. Ruth Matagi-Tofiga remains on the Council.
