Dana Love-Ili Is Top Teacher of the Year

The Department of Education today announced the 2016-2017 Territorial Teacher of the Year.

The honor goes to Mrs. Dana Love-Ili, a secondary Special Education teacher at Nu’uuli Vocational and Technical High School.

Dana, a graduate of Faasao Marist High School and the American Samoa Community College, obtained her Bachelor’s from the University of Hawaii and her Masters from Argosy University.

She has been a teacher for ten years, 8 of which at the Wildcats campus.

Acting Director of DOE Philo Jennings made the official announcement at the KVZK-TV studio this afternoon.

Unique about this year’s selection of the Territorial teacher of the Year, is that the panel was from the community instead of just DOE employees.

Evelyn Lili’o Satele was the only DOE staffer in this year’s panel, serving as the State Coordinator.

The other panelists were Rev. Iasepi Ulu, a former principal of Kanana fou, Isabel Gaoteote of the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa, Filifotu Vaai-Tinitali, BlueSky Country Manager, American Samoa and Edna Noga of the American Samoa Power Authority.

Dana and her husband Robertson Ili have three children.

Congratulations Dana!
