Local artist Tile Tuala-Tamaalelagi Sosene-Feagai who created the art piece, will be working on the carving during the Arts Fiafia celebration next week.

The event celebrates local artists and their talents and aims to perpetuate all art forms.

Tile, a graduate of Fagaitua high School and the Leulumoega SchooL of Fine Arts in Samoa will be one of the featured artists in workshops next week at the museum fale.

Tile shared that a gifted artist is perfected with some education to stimulate ideas and to keep the creativity flowing.

He admitted that attending the Leulumoega School of Fine Arts it was not as easy as he had thought.

He shared that discipline was emphasized for the entire year he was perfecting his art.

While artists tend to flow according to their moods, Tile says discipline in art is critical to becoming an excellent artist.

Tile is the creator of the iconic carving in front of the museum.

He and his artist friends have called their carved tree, “O le ala i le pule o le Tautua.”

Carved for the 2008 Pacific Arts Festival which American Samoa hosted, it was truly a labor of love for Tile and his friends.

The elements have taken out the shine and splendor but next week it will be getting a facelift.
