The new Coast Guard Captain of the Port Honolulu Sector, Captain Michael Long, is hoping that more American Samoans will look to their branch of the military as a career.
Visiting the territory for the first time since he was appointed three months ago, Captain Long said it’s the goal of Admiral Atkins the 14th District Commander to increase recruitment from American Samoa, Hawaii, and other Pacific islands.
Captain Long pledged to get the word out and do their best to entice young American Samoans to sign with the Coast Guard.
