So far the information about the sale of BlueSky has come from management employees and shareholders.

KHJ News asked some employees of the company how they are faring with recent developments…that is their employer being sold and the firing of their CEO for the last 8 years , Aoee Adolfo Montenegro.

Employees were reluctant to speak for fear of retribution but two spoke on condition that they not be named.

They said they are in a state of uncertainty and job security is their main concern.

One said while they were told a week ago that they need not be worried about losing their jobs, they have seen how their CEO Montenegro has been terminated and are worried that they will face the same fate.

One said it’s hard to concentrate on work not knowing whether they will be able to keep their jobs.

According to the employees they are finding out information about the same time as the media .

They appreciate statements by Governor Lolo Moliga that he wants to ensure that local jobs are protected.

In the meantime, others in the business community have expressed their opinions on the pending sale to the Fijian corporation, Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Inc.

One businessman told KHJ News what’s happening to BlueSky is nothing different to the buyout of StarKist Samoa by Korean company Dongwon.

He said from where he stands, the shareholders and managers’ only interest is to protect their investments and jobs but consideration must also be given to what the new owners can do to improve telecommunications for American Samoa.

He said internet is slow, we’re still experiencing dropped calls and BlueSky service to Manu’a hasn’t happened.
