Among the first time candidates in the House of Representatives race in the November 8 general elect
ions is Ms. Saipai Cassens.
The 29-year-old will be on the ballot for the District of Tuala-uta.
Cassens was born and raised in the territory then moved off island to pursue an education.
She returned to the island after living in the mainland for many years.
She runs a home-based consultancy business in customer service and does a lot of charity work.
Cassens is organizing a drive for supplies for students and teachers, an initiative which was spurned by something her eldest child said.

Her school supplies drive, which is slated for the end of November is promoted on her Face Book page which is under her name.
Cassens observes that much of the same conditions in schools that she experienced growing up here, remain today.
She says her decision to run for faipule stems from a desire to make improvements in education, which she sees as the key to attaining a sound future for our children.
You probably wont hear or read any campaign ads from Cassens on the radio or newspaper.
She’s opted for social media and has regular conversations with Tuala-uta voters on her Face Book page.
Cassens is planning to walk the district before decision day.
