No Challenges Filed, Ballot Forms Go to Print

The Election Office can now print the ballot forms for the November 8 general elections.

Tuesday was the deadline for challenges to be filed regarding the eligibility of any of the candidates who registered by the September 1st deadline for the gubernatorial, congressional and American Samoa House of  Representatives races.

But no challenges were filed.

In a notice issued yesterday, Election Commissioner Uiagalelei Dr. Lealofi Uiagalelei announced the certification of all candidates and said their names will be printed on the ballot as they are listed

The race for governor and lt governor will have three teams:  Faoa Aitofele Sunia and Larry Sanitoa, Lolo Matalasi ,oliga and Lemanu Palepoi Sialega Mauga, and Tuika Tuika and Salanoa Iuni Maeva Saveena.

For Congress,  the five candidates running are Aumua Amata, Meleagi Sui Tonu Chapman, Paepaetele Mapu Jamias, Tim Jones and Vaitinasa  Salu Hunkin Finau.

There are 62 candidates vying for 20 of the 21 seats in the local House of Representatives and this number includes  the only incumbent running unopposed House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale.

The 21st seat in the House is for Swains and their faipule is selected at an open meeting.
