Food Index Drops 0.7% in August

The Basic Food Index for the month of August dropped by 0.7% after increasing in three consecutive months.

The BFI registered at 101.21 points, a slight drop from the July index of 101.88 points.

Six major food outlets were selected for the monthly survey.

At the end of August average retail prices of lamp flaps, chicken legs, turkey tails, eggs, sugar and vegetable oil contributed to the drop in basic food cost.
