ASG Awarded $7 Million for Airport Rehabilitation

Congresswoman Aumua Amata, announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has awarded $7 million in discretionary funding to the American Samoa Government for repairs and rehabilitation of Pago Pago International Airport.

The congresswoman said, “A solid and reliable infrastructure is essential to maintaining economic growth and opportunities in American Samoa, and I am pleased that the USDOT has seen the need for these repairs and updates to our local airport.”

Specifically, the grant funds will be used to rehabilitate the apron and runway, and other repairs at Pago Pago International Airport.

Aumua thanked DOT officials in Washington who recognized the need for these funds, as well as those in American Samoa who worked hard to make sure that the territory received this important funding.
