Contestant number 5 in the Miss American Samoa Pageant 2016-2017 is 21-year-old Taisamasamaoletuimanu’a Punipuao To’atelegese.
The Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School graduate who’s now studying at the American Samoa Community College is the daughter of Mr. Tavui and Mrs. Muliselu To’atelegese from Nu’uuli, Malaeloa, Aua and Fitiuta, Manu’a.
She’s sponsored by Tess Sewing Shop.
Tai said the most influential person who’s played a role in building her confidence and the courage to become a contestant for this year’s contest is her late grandmother.
Tai explained that the opportunity to compete in the pageant includes learning how to carry herself in public in a manner expected of a Samoan woman.
She credits her grandmother as the pillar of positive personal development in her life and wants to dedicate her participation in this year’s pageant to her.
