China and Japan Next Frontier for Samoa Exports

The Samoa Manufacturers Association has identified China and Japan as target markets for Made in Samoa products in the new year.

Technical Adviser for SAME Colin Stringer says rather than compete on price and commodity they’ve identified niche products with export potential for the Asian markets.

And to ensure acceptance, marketability and maximum profits, producers are being certified after meeting export standards and requirements.

Speaking at the 2nd Agribusness Forum in Apia, Stringer says products such as nonu, kava and soon, the breadfruit, are the types of niche products they hope to ship to the Asian markets.
