The Veterinary Clinic at the department of agriculture was reopened yesterday.

This follows a surprise visit to the clinic by Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga yesterday.

Veterinarian Kirsten Jensen declined to comment except to say that the clinic is now reopened.

Last Thursday afternoon, a notice was posted at the Vet Clinic saying it was closed and for any questions call the Department of Agriculture.

Kirsten told KHJ News that there was a disagreement between herself and the director over the handling of dogs which were captured at public places.

She said she was ordered to euthanize the dogs that were captured and she refused.

Then the director closed down the clinic.

Meanwhile the territory’s dog population will be getting special attention from a team of off island vets which will be here November 11-17.

Their free clinics are sponsored by the Alofa mo Meaola group headed by Mona King.

The focus of the clinics for the six days is the stray dog and stray cat population.

Locations for the clinics will be announced in the coming weeks.

You can get more information from Alofa mo Meaola at 688-7314
