Teachers Get New Ideas for Teaching Marine Science

Teachers who attended an ocean science workshop will have a lot to share with their students.

The two day workshop had the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa and Department of Education partnering with NOAA Ocean Exploration and Research to illustrate a wide range of ocean science teaching materials, and activities

More than 50 teachers attended the first day of the workshop and today there were more.

Haynes was very pleased with the attendance.

She said, “The turnout was fantastic! We had a really enthusiastic group of teachers!”

One of the teachers, Mine Taufete’e left the workshop with excitement and says she looks forward to sharing her new knowledge with her students.

Science teacher Miracle Sene, says she is really thankful for the opportunity to participate in the workshop and found it very helpful.

The teachers were given textbooks, flash drives and other material to help with the new school year.
