StarKist Samoa Awards $20,000 to Four Students

Four high school graduates have been awarded the 2016 StarKist Samoa scholarships which has a combined total of $20,000 , divided equally among the four recipients.

A statement from StarKist says, the selection process was very difficult due to the highly competitive caliber of applicants.

Sangdon Kwon, StarKist Samoa General Manager says, “…all the applicants were outstanding and accomplished so the selection was not easy.

“Unfortunately we are only able to award only four scholarships again this year.”

The recipients are Faafetai Paga of Nu’uuli Vocational Technical High School, who is headed for Southern Utah University to study computer science and information systems.

Faafetai’s parents are Faafetai and Fa’aa’asa Paga.

Tasitoaalii Asuega of South Pacific Academy, whose parents are Matthew Asuega and Jean Anderson, will study mechanical engineering at Loyola Marymount University.

Onosai Vaa of Fagaitua High School, son of Onosai and Tina Vaa will major in accounting at the University of Hawaii- Hilo .

And finally Martin Duchnak of South Paciic Academuy son of Marty and Nimpha Duchnak will study civil engineering at Central Piedmont.Onosai Vaa

StarKist GM Kwon thanks all applicants for their scholarship this year and wish all of them the best of luck in their future educational pursuits.
