Public schools open August 29 and to get administrators and counselors ready for the new academic year with all the trials and tribulations that come with it, the Department of Education is holding its Annual Leadership Academy.
The event has shifted to the Youth Center in Pago Pago and yesterday school principals, vice principals, and counselors and other school personnel gathered for the opening of the 3-day academy.
The rest of DOE’s workforce will have their refresher sessions next week.
Dr. Samasoni Asaeli who is one of the leaders of the academy says before the new school year starts, the academy helps refresh the skills and inspire commitment of administrators to their profession especially in delivering instruction to students.

Department directors attended the opening ceremony yesterday morning which included remarks by Governor Lolo Moliga.
Dr. Asaeli says teachers were inspired by the advice of a former teacher.
