The Governor’s nominee for f Commissioner of the Office of Financial Institutions Robert Ho Chee has been endorsed by the House of Representatives in a unanimous 15-0 vote.

Half of the Representatives who voted for Ho Chee did not attend the confirmation hearing where the nominee was questioned about his qualifications and experience for the newly created office, a division of Treasury.

The questions dealt mainly with financing for OFI, as the funding is not included in the Treasury budget,  as well as staffing.

In his remarks at the end of the hearing, Ho Chee, a resident of Faleniu, said that it has always been his desire to offer his banking experience to serve all the people of American Samoa.
