The 2016 Olympics has opened in a mesmerizing and purposeful ceremony.
Hosts Brazil capitalized on the world’s attention not only to show its talents, beauty, and creativity in a dazzling opening, but also to highlight a problem that is affecting the world over, climate change.
It was announced during the entertainment portion of the opening that all of the athletes from the 200 countries represented will contribute to growing a tree as an answer to climate change.

It took a while for our contingent to file in to the Olympic Stadium in the parade of nations because the order of appearance was not according to the English alphabet. Countries appeared according to the Portugese alphabet.
Portugese is the native tongue of Brazil.
The opening ceremony aired on KVZK-TV Channel 4 was the feed from the Armed Forces Radio Television Service.
