Man Beats Brother While Intoxicated

A man who assaulted his brother while intoxicated entered a plea agreement in District Court and was sentenced today. Pesamino Iakimo was charged with third degree assault and public peace disturbance for allegedly assaulting his brother last month. The government’s case has it that Iakimo, who was under the influence of alcohol, was upset because of something his brother said to him. He allegedly fetched a piece of PVC which he used to hit his brother. Prosecutor Douglas Bigelow said the brother’s nose was broken and his face was all bloodied. When District Court Judge Fiti Sunia asked the defendant to describe what happened he said it wasn’t planned, that he had too much to drink and regrets it. Iakimo pead guilty to third degree asault and the PPD charge was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months probation and 22 days in jail which is how long he has been at TCF since the incident. He also has to pay a $100 fine.
