More than 40 business operators have not picked up their business licenses from the Department of Commerce for 2016.

The  Business Division of the Department of Commerce sent out a list of the applicants with a request that they report to DOC to uplift their processed applications and go to Revenue to pay for and pick up their 2016 business licenses.

The list has 44 names and the types of business include retail stores, beer vendors, laundromats, farming, taxi, landscaping,  import export, day care center,  construction, bakery, computer services, sewing shop, food catering, snack bar , auto shops and small loans.

A staffer at DOC says the last remaining step for the applicants is to pay for their business licenses at the Revenue Division of Treasury.

Business license fees went up last year after the Fono passed an administration bill which hiked a basic business license fee that used to be $25 to $150.

It was the first time in decades that the cost of business licenses was increased.

According to DOC’s second quarter performance report, there was a 31.31% drop in the number of business licenses issued between October 1 last year up to March 31,  and the number of licenses issued in the same period last year.

As of March 31 , a total of 2,619 business licenses were issued, compared to  3,813 business licenses issued in the first two quarter of FY2015.
