American Samoa is initiating discussions with the airline of French Polynesia Air Tahiti Nui in pursuing alternate air services for the territory.

A report on  American Samoa’s attendance at  the recent meeting of the Polynesian Leaders Group in Tahiti says Lt Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga discussed with the CEO of Air Tahiti Nui, Mr. Michael Monviosin, American Samoa’s  serious interest in the airline providing direct service to American Samoa and potential direct flights from Tahiti, American Samoa, Honolulu and the US West Coast.

It was decided that this issue should be discussed in detail at a subsequent meeting later to ensure that all the stakeholders are involved in the discussions. American Samoa will initiate the meeting along with the venue and date of this pending exchange.

Lt. Governor Lemanu and the Governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira attended the PLG meeting held  late last  month in Papeete.

This was the first PLG meeting for the Lolo Lemanu administration.

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Lemanu commended the CEO of Air Tahiti Nui, Mr. Monvoisin, and the entire staff for their top notch service.

He vouched for the wonderful flying experience that he “enjoyed  immensely” while in the care of “the most gracious and accommodating flight attendants.”

Lemanu said he has flown on many airlines, but for the first time in his life he had been pampered and treated with “such soothing smiles and genuine commitment to providing the best service that they could possibly provide.”

He told the airline CEO, “Your flight attendants have  manifested, in their actions, the care and the love that exudes from their hearts. It is no wonder that Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga instructed me to express our great interest in having Air Tahiti Nui serve American Samoa.

“It is my hope that our request will receive the strongest consideration.”
