Criminal Cases Continued Due to Lack of Police Reports

The preliminary examination for a man wanted for at least three different burglaries in the Tuala-uta District, Uatau Falanai got postponed yesterday on a request by

Assistant Public Defender Mathoni McCormick, due to lack of police reports.

The defense attorney said he needed more time so they can gather more evidence to prepare for the case.

 The court granted him a week’s continuance.

Along with the preliminary examination for Falana’i were Driving under the influence cases which were also pushed back due to lack of police reports.

District Court Judge Fiti Sunia mentioned there were other cases that should’ve been dealt with already but have been continued because of the same reason.

Assistant Attorney General Jedidiah Bigelow replied that he had requested DPS several times to for the reports but so far they have not been cooperative..

The prosecutor told the judge, “June was good …they were always sending reports but this month July has just been flat.”
