Six Schools Pass First Step of WASC Review

Six elementary schools have successfully passed the initial phase of review by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the last school year.

Deputy Director of Education, Fa’aui Vaitautolu, said at a press conference this morning this is the first time public elementary schools have gone from the WASC accreditation process.

The six schools which were piloted for the initial WASC evaluation are: Afonotele, Alofau, Le’atele in Fagasa, Masefau, Leone Midkiff and Manulele Elementary Schools.

Principals and Vice Principals of these elementary schools attended the press conference to report on their preparations and some of the WASC requirements they had to meet.

Program Director of the Elementary Division, Taala Siauini shared his thoughts about the accreditation.

Le’atele Elementary School Principal Aofiaalela’i Papali’i said it was a struggle for their small school but the result has made it all worthwhile.

The Department of Education will soon announce the next group of elementary school to go through the same process.
