Paepaetele Mapu Jamias Puts Health Care at the Top

Candidate for Congress, Paepaetele Mapu Jamias is taking every chance he gets to carry out the wish of his late mother and grandmother whose words still echoes in his mind to not forget his people of Manu’a and Tutuila.

This is the driving force behind Paepaetele’s second attempt to become American Samoa’s Representative to the US Congress.

He faces three female and one male candidate in November.

Paepaetele says as he gets on in his years, time is of the essence to deliver results for American Samoa.

The retired US Army Lt. Colonel who started the American Samoa Army Reserve, says he has many goals but the most critical relates to health.

The candidate also expressed concern about the status of the Retirement Fund, saying its security and success relies on good leadership and smart investments.

He wants to use his experience and contacts including his position as Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army to open up more opportunities for American Samoa from the military.

He also sees a need to restore a close working relation with the United States Government.
