MV Sili Should Be on Its Way to Manu’a Soon

There’s good news for residents of Manu’a.

The MV Sili may be making its first trip in more than a month tomorrow.

Manu’a House Representative, Vesi Talalelei Fautanu Jr. told KHJ News that the ordered rudder of the MV Sili was delivered last Friday and the US Coast Guard is expected to be present today during the boat’s sea trials to determine if the boat is safe to travel.

A Coast Guard official told KHJ News that they will conduct  an inspection for the MV Sili to make sure that it is safe to resume trips to the Manu’a  islands.

Representative Vesi explains that one of the concerns he raised with the Director of Port Administration, Tamaalelagi Dr. Claire Poumele was the condition  Faleasao wharf and whether it is safe for boats to dock.

He said that a crew has been sent to Manu’a to see if the wharf can accomodate the MV Sili makes it trip which the Faipule is praying and hoping to happen tomorrow.
