The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Incident Management Assistance (IMAT) Team came ready to respond to any possible damages as a result of Hurricane Amos however their assistance is not needed.

That’s because the cyclone was not a direct hit and did not cause significant damage.

Ryan Brown FEMA IMAT team leader said that American Samoa was well prepared to respond and they were quite impressed with the collaboration executed by the American Samoa Government.

He said the great coordination resulted in a pre-deployment team of more than 50 federal personnel arriving in the territory Friday evening in anticipation of the cyclone that fizzled out and blew away.

Besides FEMA administrators, the group included representatives from various agencies of the federal government including the US Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, the Department of Defense, the US Army Corps, US Health and Human Serivces to name a few.

Governor Lolo Moliga met the team at the Emergency Operations Center Saturday morning and yesterday, they met with Lt. Governor Lemanu.

Brown said they were grateful that American Samoa was severely impacted as predictions had it.
