Long Lines at Banks and EOB

The effects of the two commercial banks closing early on Friday  due to Cyclone Amos was the extra long lines seen at Bank of Hawaii and ANZ this morning.

At BOH customers, many of whom were people with tax refund checks that were released Friday stood in a line that stretched from the teller windows to the length of the parking lot on the EOB side of the Centennial Building.

The Fagatogo branch of ANZ was also packed.

Both banks closed at 1pm on Friday, due to Cyclone Amos and ANZ also didn’t open its drive through windows on Saturday.

ASG had released $2.5 million worth of refund checks on Friday.

Previously stores had been able to cash checks of varying amounts but they are now restricted to cashing checks of up to $1,000.
