Following the Fautasi Race Committee’s decision, several police cars were seen at Aua.

Young people got angry that their fautasi has been disqualified and not given a chance to compete in the finals. They are not taking the decision well and some have taken out their frustrations by throwing rocks and other objects.

Earlier police responded to an incident  in Malaloa and some young men were hauled off to the police station.

Pago Pago High Chief Pulu Ae Ae Jr, says the Race Commitee should have appeased the situation and allowed all fautasi to race on Monday instead of accepting some and disqualifying others.

He said he understands the disappointment and hurt of the villages whose fautasi have been disqualified.

Pulu said the Fautasi Committee is to be blamed for any disruptions that occur.

He added that the Committee should not please just a few villages but make a decision that will maintain peace and harmony.
